Over the weekend, Landline featured the Environment Protection Authority's recent visit to two AgForce member properties in Central Queensland, an engagement initiated and facilitated by AgForce as part of our ongoing advocacy on behalf of Queensland producers.
Securing this visit was a strategic priority for AgForce. We have consistently advocated for government decision-makers to move beyond desktop assessments and policy papers and spend time on working farms, seeing first-hand how producers actively manage biodiversity, vegetation and productive agriculture together. Providing this practical, on-ground context is critical to ensuring future policy, guidance and compliance approaches are informed by the realities of farming.
AgForce extends its sincere thanks to Grant and Carly Burnham, and Ian and Kate McCamley, for generously opening their properties and sharing their experience. Their willingness to host these discussions and demonstrate practical land management has made a significant contribution to ensuring government has a better understanding of Queensland's agricultural landscapes and the practical implications of environmental regulation. Special thank you also to the AgForce EPBC taskforce members for their time and expertise
This visit was not a standalone event. It forms part of AgForce's broader advocacy strategy to ensure government decision-makers engage directly with producers and that policy is shaped by practical on-ground experience. Every field visit, policy submission, ministerial meeting and media opportunity builds on that objective, ensuring the voice of Queensland agriculture is influencing the decisions that affect our industry's future.
AgForce continues to push for more viable interpretation, at this stage, producers can expect the EPBC Farmers Guide (EPA) to be released in the second half of August.
