AgForce Queensland has lodged a detailed submission on the Regional Planning Interest (Condamine Alluvium) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2026, raising significant concerns about the removal of key statutory safeguards for priority agricultural land. While acknowledging improvements to subsidence recognition and compensation under the Mineral and Energy Resources (Common Provisions) Act, AgForce argues the Bill fundamentally shifts from preventing land-use conflict to compensating damage after it occurs. The submission calls for reinstated or equivalent land‑use protection mechanisms, stronger groundwater safeguards, and a clear, enforceable framework to protect long‑term agricultural productivity in the Condamine Alluvium.
