AgForce SIPP recently headed north and embarked on a joint adventure with TNQ Drought Hub to offer students from the Burdekin Region an opportunity to see what their local agricultural industries have to offer.

Our first Ag Inspirations in a number of years in this region saw 23 students from Home Hill State High School keen to learn about the opportunities in this ever evolving world.

Over the three days students visited JBS Australia Townsville, the Port of Townsville Limited, North Queensland Fresh, TAFE Queensland, Coral Coast Barramundi, Pacific Reef Fisheries (Australia) Pty Ltd and Rocks Farming Company.

100% of students said they would recommend Ag Inspirations to other students, 94% said this tour would benefit students not studying agriculture and that there were inspired to learn how things work, it made them feel better knowing there were so many job opportunities and it was an awesome opportunity that really opened their eyes.

Teacher feedback from Ag Inspirations included highlighted that the variety of agricultural businesses presented was fantastic and it provided students with a complete coverage of agriculture in the district.
