Plenty of research programs are in the pipeline, following AgForce’s Brian Pastures Committee meeting.

Held last week, this was the first committee meeting in three years and was attended by (pictured - left to right):

  • Noel Brinsmead (AgForce COO)
  • Bradley Taylor (DAF)
  • Ange Hutchinson (AgForce member)
  • Bron Christensen (AgForce member – Committee Chair)
  • Vanessa Bambling (AgForce member)
  • David Lack (DAF)

The new committee centred its discussions on the following:

  • Facility Manager’s report – rainfall, pasture, weed control, pasture dieback, maintenance and the 23/24 program.
  • Research Report – updates regarding Swiftsynd (pasture growth) monitoring sites, Indian Couch Invasion Trial, Repronomics Programs 1 and 2, Pasture Dieback Trial, Steak and Wood Trial.
  • Field Day event planning
  • School training possibilities, research communications options, connectivity issues, (these will be further discussed at the next meeting).
  • Property tour for the new committee

Brian Pastures Research Facility is owned by AgForce and leased and operated by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF).

The facility is situated 18km East South East of Gayndah in the sub-coastal Speargrass region of southeast Queensland.

The next committee meeting is scheduled for September 2023, and more information regarding research programs will be revealed in Envoy’s spring 2023 edition.
