Bush fire assistance - Dirranbandi & Hebel
Disaster assistance is now available for Balonne Shire Council and impacted residents in Dirranbandi and Hebel 🔥

Eligible impacted residents can receive financial support through the Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme. The Emergency Hardship Assistance grant provides $180 for individuals and up to $900 for a family of five or more towards the costs of emergency food, clothing and medicine.

Council will also be supported with the costs of their disaster operations including firefighting activities, incident management, the establishment of evacuation centres and for the reconstruction of essential public assets.

Assistance is being provided through joint Commonwealth-state funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Bushfire in Kinkora State Forest 

Firefighters in the Western Downs have worked tirelessly over a few days at a large bushfire in the Kinkora State Forest (Westmar Area).

This fire is now fully contained and crews will remain on scene to blacken out and monitor fire edges.

2024 Young Beef Producers Forum- 14th-15th November Roma

The Young Beef Producers’ Forum is a two-day conference focused on providing educational, networking and capacity building opportunities for u40 year old‘s with an interest in the beef industry.

In 2024, we are so excited to be celebrating 20 years of this wonderful event. YBPF is of the highest quality, inspiring, engaging and life changing – equipping young beef producers to make a difference in all aspects of their lives, including on-farm, off-farm, family, personal and business-related areas.

In honour of the 20th Anniversary of YBPF, this year’s theme is Looking Forward, Looking Back. 

The event has been developed for young producers, by young producers. With the guidance of a steering committee sharing their perspectives and ideas this event has been coordinated by the Future Farmers Network.

So, whether you’re a beef producer, involved in a family business or have a connection with the industry, this year’s Young Beef Producers’ Forum is simply not to be missed.
