AgForce is urging members to support a consortium bid for Longreach Pastoral College, that would keep the facility in industry hands and provide desperately needed training.

Last week, nine of Australia's prominent pastoral holdings pledged their financial support for the bid being put together by the AAM Investment Group.

They are:

  • ACC
  • Cleveland Agriculture
  • CPC
  • Curr Family
  • Georgina Pastoral Company
  • Hewitt Cattle Australia
  • MDH
  • Mort & Co
  • NAPCO

The consortium seeks expressions of support from as many people and organisations as possible, all of which will be included in their bid as an indication of strong, widespread support.

Time is short – tenders are due tomorrow.

Anyone who wants to support this bid should follow this link to have their say.

AgForce will also lobby the State Government to ensure that any proceeds coming out of the sale are put back into education.

In addition, we propose that our joint training venture with Response be adopted by the college to help fill the huge void for young adults seeking a career in Queensland’s livestock industries.

This is an opportunity not to be missed.

A new rural training facility and curriculum in Queensland is something that is long overdue, and we strongly encourage all our members to help make this dream a reality by showing their support today.
