AgForce is fighting an Australia Post decision that threatens to destroy rural businesses.

From 30 June 2021, Australia Post has announced it will no longer accept perishables through its network due to “complex food safety requirements”.

For businesses such as Toohey Farming, an organic farm in Tumoulin, far north Queensland, this is a devastating blow.

The farm’s online business reached new heights in 2020, ensuring constant food supply even during rolling lockdowns, and now has a bumper crop ready for harvest.

But with Australia Post’s looming cull of services, the farm and others now face decimation.

AgForce members who value purchasing their avocados, garlic or any other designated "perishable items" online to be delivered to their door should add their name to a petition against Australia Post.

It’s time to stand with regional Australia to ensure our online farm businesses not only survive, but continue to flourish.
