Grains industry management practice reports from Grains BMP
Between 2009 and 2012 DEEDI staff have collated annual management practice reports from over 250 grain growers completing Grains BMP modules across Queensland. These reports have been invaluable to demonstrate the high level of adoption of Grains BMP to government scientists that are modelling land use impacts on the Great Barrier Reef water quality.
The 2011/2012 report included the Burdekin, Fitzroy and Burnett Mary catchments whose total area is 294,962 hectares. The average area under production across all practices within all five modules, at or above industry standards is 73% (see Figure 1 below).
