How Grazing BMP works

How Grazing BMP works

Modules for the Grazing BMP program are currently being developed by DEEDI Agri-Science Queensland industry development officer Lindy Symes in accordance with a Landholder Reference Group. The Landholder Reference Group consists of members from funding partners and grazing businesses from throughout the Fitzroy, Burdekin and Burnett Mary catchments.

Module content will be developed by the best available technical resource personnel and where necessary, subject to a peer and scientific review.

Modules will be available for completion via the Grazing BMP website as well as standalone electronic (PDF Forms) and hardcopy versions.

Producers can directly use the Grazing BMP website or conduct their self-assessments during group workshops. Self-assessments are recorded and automatically link to action plans and further resources such as information and/or training options. The action planning component allows producers to record actions required to improve their BMP status and productivity.

Working online enables producers to review or add to their assessments at any time. It also enables producers to instantly comparetheir management against an industry accepted BMP, and where it sits in relation to others graziers in their catchment or state.

Individual data is kept confidential, with each producer allocated a private username and password.Producers can give permission for industry to use aggregated, de-identified data to demonstrate adoption levels of actions associated with environmental stewardship.
