What is AgForce’s involvement in Reef Rescue?
AgForce Queensland has been involved in cross-industry networks and regional working groups to value add to processes helping producers adopt best management practices (BMPs). Industry group involvement in the Reef Rescue partnership helps balance the economic and productive needs of producers with environmental stewardship expectations.
Through the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country funding, AgForce Projects staff have been involved in developing a statewide BMP framework for the grazing industry to help measure its progress toward the uptake of BMPs and improved environmental sustainability and profitability.
Staff are also involved in awareness raising activities in reef catchment areas. The activities aim to help producers and community members learn more about sustainable land management practices and demonstrate how the practices link to improved water quality outcomes for Great Barrier Reef catchments.
