Grains BMP – assisting grain growers to reap dividends

The Grains Best Management Practice (BMP) project assists broad acre grain growers to identify improved practices in pesticide application, farm design and rainfall, pest and soil management.

All modules help to identify the steps growers can take to incorporate BMPs that can help to improve the long term profitability of their enterprise.

Capella grain grower David Brown said the Grains BMP project provided an incentive to invest in new technology and achieve greater efficiency.

“Through the Grains BMP process and seeing spray technology consultants Graham Betts and Bill Gordon, my awareness of how to get the best performance out of our Rogator 1074 self-steer 24m spray rig has improved,” he said.

The Grains BMP project is delivered by Queensland Primary Industries and Fisheries, Fitzroy Basin Association and AgForce Projects through funding from the Queensland Government and Australian Government’s Caring for our Country.
